artist statement
I am going through a period of gentle deconstruction while simultaneously exploring spiritual connection. I seek sacred space - finding this on a meditative walk, in the studio, or in the act of reading a poem, among many other places and moments. How can art and ritual help one pass from the ordinary into the sublime? What can we find in stillness and silence? My latest work does not merely represent this exploration but is the exploration itself.

Darcie Denton is a 25-year-old artist from the Chattanooga area who has had three solo shows and exhibited various works throughout the Eastern United States from 2019 to present. Her artwork revolves around themes of sacredness, memory, gratitude, and beauty, and she explores these through paint, print and other traditional media, as well as video documentation of her life experience. Darcie's love for documentation has also lent itself to success on social media where she shares her work and life to an online audience of over 80,000 followers.
